Home Ransacked After Fake Craigslist Ad

Posted by Rob on Wednesday, 26 March, 2008

Sometimes it is amazing what people will believe if they
see it posted online. What is worse, is the people who
know something is obviously wrong, but decide to
capitalize on the opportunity anyways…

Take the following story for example:

“A Craigslist-related scam has left an Oregon man without
most of his belongings. According to an Associated Press
report, Saturday a pair of ads popped up on Craigslist
advertising that the owner of the home had been forced
to leave the area and that all of his belongings were free
for the taking. The second of the two ads was more
specific stating that a horse that had been abandoned by
the sheriff’s department was free to anyone willing to give
it a good home.

Here the kicker: Robert Salisbury, the owner of the home
and horse, was out of town and completely unaware of
the Craigslist ads and that his house was being cleaned
out.

When a woman tracked Salisbury down and called him to
claim his horse Salisbury rushed home. He even stopped a
truck full of his possessions on the way home. “I informed
them I was the owner, but they refused to give the stuff
back,” Salisbury to the Associated Press. “They showed
me the Craigslist printout and told me they had the right
to do what they did.”

Deja Rip-Off

Believe it or not this is the second reported time a house
has been ransacked because of a Craigslist ad. Last May
a Seattle woman placed an ad on Craigslist stating:
“Moving out … House being demolished. Come and take
whatever you want, nothing is off limits,” without the
homeowners knowledge. The house was cleaned out.”

Speak Softly and Carry a Telescopic Steel Baton

Posted by Rob on Thursday, 20 March, 2008

I really can’t seem to say enough about our telescopic
steel batons
. They are really a great self defense
weapon. When collapsed they range from a mere 6 inches
to about 9 inches long, and when deployed, they extend
to 16, 21 or 26 inch length.

They are extremely portable and easily concealed, as
well as being a very effective and devastating, making
them a widely popular personal protection tool.

Besides being formidable when used, the simple act of
just deploying this baton becomes a deterrent in many
cases. When snapped into action, the steel shafts
sliding into place and its loud and ominous click as it
locks into position can make even a hardened criminal
think twice about continuing their harassing behavior.

It is like the warning before the beat down. Who really
wants to be pummeled with a steel baton? The only give
is the target on impact, the steel baton is less than
forgiving when it meets an opponent’s flesh, bone or
muscle. Whack!

That noise is much like that ominous crackle of
electricity on an armed stun gun ready to be drilled
into the side of an attacker. Bzzzzzt! Few want to
continue to challenge, and those not yet privy to this
warning will soon be taught its association.

Just like Theodore Roosevelt used to say “Speak softly
and carry a big stick.” Or carry a small stick that
turns into a big stick
. “You will go far.”

You Got Beat Up by a Girl!

Posted by Rob on Monday, 17 March, 2008

A “stocky” woman in her 20s broke a man’s leg in the UK
the other day by throwing him to the ground with a
martial arts judo throw.

The 22-year-old victim suffered a dislocated ankle and
spiral fracture to two bones in his leg after an alleged
unprovoked attack just before 2 AM on March 2nd. He is
now recovering at home after surgery on his leg, and
nursing a severely damaged ego after being beat up by
a girl.

Although this was a rare case of a guy getting roughed
up by a girl, (rare because most manly men would choose
not report this publicly), It goes to show women are not
always the inferior race and are able to defend
themselves when necessary if trained how to.

Whether with pepper spray, a stun gun, or some martial
arts moves learned in a self-defense class or on an
instructional DVD, leveling the playing field and
fighting back might just be enough to prevent being
a victim.

Perhaps that British gentleman in Taunton might want to
brush up on his self defence skills himself. Or maybe
next time he should at least tell his friends he was
beat up by 3 big guys in a dark alley, not “a stocky,
dark haired woman in her 20s…”

It may take quite some time for him live this one down.

It would be nice to believe that nothing will happen to
you, but the reality of it is that an ounce of protection
could be worth more than a pound of cure. What is Worth
Protection to you? Your belongings? Your family? Your

Diversion Safes, Better than a Cardboard Box

Posted by Rob on Saturday, 15 March, 2008

Two sisters were arrested by Japanese authorities for
hiding just under 60 million dollars in cardboard boxes.
It took 50 cardboard boxes stuffed with cash, and they
stored it in a shed attached to one of the sister’s
houses.

They inherited the money from their father, who died
three years ago and tried to evade the tax on 6 billion
yen of their 7.5 billion inheritance. So they stored the
cash in cardboard boxes… In a shed… Wow.

As misguided and ill-intentioned this attempt was, there
is a more practical and effective way of hiding your
valuables. (Not getting into the government crooks and
taxes debate right now..)

Diversion Safes are a unique home-security product.
https://worthprotectionsecurity.com/diversionsafes.htm

We offer a wide variety of personal care, household
products and food containers with removable tops and
bottoms. Valuables can be discreetly stored inside
these look-a-like containers and kept in their seemingly
rightful places. Each container is indistinguishable
from the genuine product and is even weighted to feel
full.

The Chicago Crime Commission states that a typical
burglar only spends about 8 minutes in the victims home
on average. Put the odds in your favor…hide your
valuables in plain sight.

Hide stuff in your pantry in a can of soda, Pringles,
fruit cocktail or other food product
. Hide items in the
bathroom cupboard in a hair spray, shaving cream or
bathroom cleaner can
. Squirrel away some stuff in the
garage in a fake can of Gunk, JB Oil Treatment or
engine degreaser
.

Stash a book safe on your book shelf (what place would
be safer, crooks don’t read), or stick a potted plant
safe
anywhere in the house. Just keep it near a window
so your plant doesn’t die.

Make sure you remember what items in your house are
diversion safes, and what items are real products.
Nothing would be worse that sticking your last can of
root beer in the fridge and realizing just before you
crack it open to enjoy it that in fact it is NOT a
refreshing thirst quenching A&W beverage.

If that happens, hopefully it contained a small stash
of cash you were saving for a rainy day. No time like
the present, run to the store and buy a chilled 6-pack
of root beer to satisfy your craving. Put the rest of
the money back in your diversion safe and stick it back
in the pantry.

Fake out yourself, fake out the bad guys. Hide your
valuables in plain sight.

It would be nice to believe that nothing will happen to
you, but the reality of it is that an ounce of protection
could be worth more than a pound of cure. What is Worth
Protection to you? Your belongings? Your family? Your
personal well-being?

Self Defense, Supermodel Style

Posted by Rob on Friday, 14 March, 2008

As far as I’m concerned every woman in the United States
should ‘at least’ be carrying Lipstick Pepper Spray. Nothing
could be easier to conceal or carry, probably being the
biggest reason other items would be more resistant to be
carried. I guarantee you that if you use it on a creep’s face
he will no longer be the least bit worried about bothering
you.

He’ll be extremely busy trying to keep it together while his
brain tells him his face is on fire. His brain will be busy
sending him other signals as well, such as:

“Your eyes are closing…”

“You are now having serious trouble breathing…”

“The pain is getting worse and worse…”

Most of the time we are sympathetic to pain, and would
feel bad for somebody in this position, especially women.

But not if you know the loser had ugly intentions. And
believe me your body can tell the difference between a
predator and the average goofball. Your body sends
unmistakable signals when a predator appears on the radar
screen. Nice skill to have.

In this situation you go into full blown defense mode as
soon as possible, and remember that you have 20 sprays
in the lipstick container
. The face is always the best
place to hit, but the arms, chest, back, will get a
reaction too.

The reason to hit a creep in the face with the pepper spray
is to affect their sight and breathing. The pepper will close
the eyes, and make the creep tear up in a big way. The
pepper also causes very shallow breathing, where the
creep has to huff and puff to get enough air.

Forget all about sympathy, and vacate the area as fast
as possible. Get as far away as possible, because in 30
minutes the creep is going to be back to normal. He will
be back into predator mode when the pepper wears
off. Hopefully, he may stay away from you, but he will
still be a predator, because these guys just don’t learn.

In addition to being big on protection, and easy to conceal,
Lipstick Pepper Spray is bargain priced. At three cents a
day, you should have one for every woman in the family,
and give them away as presents. Someday someone will
thank you for your decision, I guarantee it.

If you’re prepared, you’ll never be surprised.

It would be nice to believe that nothing will happen to
you, but the reality of it is that an ounce of protection
could be worth more than a pound of cure. What is Worth
Protection to you? Your belongings? Your family? Your

Are You Listening?

Posted by Rob on Tuesday, 11 March, 2008

For quite some time now I have been telling people how
something as simple as carrying a small pepper spray or
stun gun could save their life, prevent a mugging or
similar act of violence. We have many products from
pepper sprays, stun guns, tasers, personal alarms and
pocket knives, all designed to keep you safer than going
at it alone.

I have posted ads, articles, webpages, blog postings,
and used word of mouth…some select few get it. Still,
more often than not, the message falls on deaf ears,
and people who should know better continue with
behaviors that will eventually make them a victim.

I saw this little story the other day from England
and thought I would pass it along.

There’s always someone who thinks good advice doesn’t
apply to him. For example, if a doctor advises not to
go near a flame, as you are going to be covered with
flammable material, most people would take this advice,
and not strike a match until the flammable material
had been removed.

However, Phillip, 60, knew better than his doctor.
Phillip was in the hospital to treat a skin disease,
the treatment consisting of being smeared in a paraffin
based cream. Phillip was warned that the cream would
ignite, so he definitely should not smoke.

But he just couldn’t go without that cigarette.

Smoking was not permitted anywhere in the ward, but he
took this setback in stride, and sneaked out on a fire
escape. Once he was hidden, he lit up… and peace
descended as he got his nicotine fix. Things didn’t
start to go downhill until he finished his cigarette,
when he ground it out with his heel.

The paraffin creme had been absorbed by his clothing.
As his heel touched the butt, fumes from his jammies
ignited. The resulting inferno “cremated” his skin
condition, and left him with 1st degree burns over most
of his body.

He died in intensive care.

Some People Just Don’t Listen.

Personal protection products can save your life.

Are you listening?

It would be nice to believe that nothing will happen to
you, but the reality of it is that an ounce of protection
could be worth more than a pound of cure. What is Worth

Whack-a-Mom at Chuck E. Cheese

Posted by Rob on Tuesday, 4 March, 2008

You don’t often expect to hear about a fight breaking out at a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant unless you are a plastic mole getting the snot beat out of you with a foam hammer in Whack-a-Mole. This time however, it looks like a grownup Whack-a-Mom game materialized in the Natick, MA pizza family fun place.

Apparently, the mother of a 9-year-old boy celebrating his birthday party had a case of arcade rage when another child was hogging the game her son wanted to play. No, this wasn’t 2 adolescent girls having a slapping and hair pulling match in the hallway of a high school. It was two mothers, a 38 and a 33-year-old, setting a wonderful example for their own kids, as well as all the other children present at Chuck E. Cheese.

As ridiculous as this story may seem, it goes to show that anything can happen at any time, for any reason. You never know when something as innocent as playing the same video game too many times may send some impatient, chemically imbalanced person into a fit of rage if they have to wait too long.

Both moms have been summoned to court to answer charges of simple assault and battery. I haven’t heard the full details, but I hope it turns out to be a case of self-defense for the one mom who gets off, and at least a nice fine for the belligerent mom starting the brawl.

As a side note, we just got some of the new colored C2 TASERS in stock – Fashion Pink and Red Hot. Not that I would ever condone or suggest carrying a TASER Device into Chuck E. Cheese. Perhaps in the parking lot.

Dogs Trap Postal Worker, Attack Car Tires

Posted by Rob on Monday, 3 March, 2008

A mail carrier is already the perfect candidate for
carrying an electronic dog repeller and Mace Muzzle
canine spray
.

In Hanover, PA, a female mail carrier ended up trapped
inside her vehicle for nearly two hours as two dogs
attacked her tires. Two dogs, one a rottweiler and the
other a pit-bull mix, flattened three of them.

When the mail carrier used he cell phone to summon help,
the police arrived on the scene. The dogs turned around
and attacked the police cruiser’s tire as well.

Authorities prepared to tranquilize the dogs named
Judge and Justice. Just in time, the surprised and
apologetic homeowner arrived and called off the dogs.

The dogs’ owner, described them “generally sweethearts”
and blamed the attack on a tire toy the dogs had recently
been given.

Using the latest ultrasonic technology, the electronic
Super Dogchaser
uses two ways to repel a dog. One is the
discomforting but not harmful high frequency sound that
is audible to dogs but not to humans. The second is a
super bright LED flashing strobe that temporarily blinds
and confuses the dog, helping stop the approach of
unwanted dogs up to 40 feet.

https://worthprotectionsecurity.com/dogchaser.htm

EPA approved Mace Muzzle provides safe, effective and
humane protection against canine attack. Ideal
protection for walkers, joggers, cyclists or delivery
people, it stops attacking dogs and forces them to
retreat.

This specially formulated pepper spray is designed
specifically for dogs and has been proven to be
effective in encounters with aggressive canines. If a
dog attacks you, spraying this repellent in it’s face
will stop him in his tracks.

It will overpower the animal and he will retreat. If you
jog or take walks, then you should carry this dog spray
with you. It is lightweight, easily accessible, and will
provide fast protection when you need it most.

https://worthprotectionsecurity.com/dogrepellent.htm

It would be a wise investment to carry both of these
items if you are a delivery worker or mail carrier and
are routinely likely to encounter animals that may not
express happiness at your arrival.

It would be nice to believe that nothing will happen to
you, but the reality of it is that an ounce of protection
could be worth more than a pound of cure. What is Worth
Protection to you? Your belongings? Your family? Your
personal well-being?
